We are extremely happy and proud to be in our 21st season of Jr. Olympic softball in 2021!

The Storm is currently comprised of 8 teams for ages U12, U14, U16, U18 & 18+.  There are approximately 100 players from 50+ cities/towns and 3 states. We are a year-round program who fully respects the multi-athlete and their other commitments. During the Fall we practice outdoors on weekends.  We also offer a few Fall tournaments.

The New England Storm, home to 100+ players ages 10 - 22,  takes pride in teaching the many subtleties of the game, and playing an aggressive, unselfish brand of softball. Our focus is on developing skills in a positive environment starting in the Fall and progressing through August, a year-round offering.  We fully respect the multi-sport athlete.  The measure of the program’s softball success is if each player has noticeably improved their skills and had a positive experience. Understanding that many of our players will be seeking opportunities to compete at the college level, the Storm offers guidance and assistance throughout the recruitment process for our freshmen thru seniors.

All Storm Head Coaches are paid positions.  A part of this is they must adhere to following our established coaching curriculum which has been an ongoing process for our past 21+ years.

Meet The

John Gambale just completed his second season as a softball coach at Eastern Nazarene College.  He is also a 5 year Deputy Commissioner for Jr Olympic Softball in Massachusetts.

This all began 21 years ago when my eldest daughter, Marissa, was 9 (she is now 29) and wanted to keep playing ball after her Little League season ended in mid-June. JO (Junior Olympic) ball was not prevalent in this area.  A team far away, offered her a spot.  It didn’t make much sense to me to do all of that driving for a 9-year-old to play softball so I decided to get 12 local girls together and try it ourselves.  Once my 2 other daughters expressed interest, more teams started to form.

And from there things took off...............

Fast-forward to today, the Storm now fields 8 U12-U18+ aged JO softball teams. I’m particular in my coaching methods.  We strive to place a high focus on improving all of the players, which usually boils down to fundamentals.  I’ve been very concerned about which coaches I invite in.  I want consistency, a strong effort, and in an enjoyable atmosphere.  We have a coaching curriculum that all must follow.  This is a tremendous aid in delivering a consistent message to the players.

Others Involved With Our Mission

We at the Storm are very fortunate to have the following college softball coaches actively working with the Storm and our players.  Currently these include

Tufts, Brandeis, Suffolk and Harvard Universities as well as Eastern Nazarene College.
